Disposition:
If I were to summarize Artagan in five words they would be; mischievous, self-centered, capricious, whimsical, and chaotic! Being an Archfey, Artagan has the ability to influence, understand and bend the feywild to his own will, able to do good and better the lives of those around him, however, he finds it much more satisfying to tamper with or stir the pot, especially when it comes to mortals! He's simply fascinated by their morals and goals, finding that their short lifespans make them interesting, charming, and fun to observe or guide into trouble in his case.
Artagan mostly excels in his Fey magic, as seen when he becomes a minor deity due to Jester's worship. His spells and the power he loans her make her one helluva powerful Cleric (when she wants to be!) He's extremely charismatic and has a way of getting away with murder! Making people do his bidding comes easy to Artagan, even if he is a little shifty and sneaky in his ways, he still manages to mostly get what he wants. Something that I believe really makes up for all the trouble he causes, is his relationship with Jester. Becoming the only company in her isolated childhood, her best friend and shoulder to cry on, even though he's not always physically there for her, his connection with her is unbreakable. I also feel I need to mention that some of his strengths aren't exactly good qualities, such as how good he is at lying or manipulating people with trickery and cunning! After all, he does claim to be a God of Trickery and Joy.
Mind you, Artagan does have some pretty bad character traits too! Such as avoiding facing the consequences of his actions, he will literally go out of his way to avoid paying a price for something bad he's done. Taking responsibility just isn't something he can be bothered with, he'd rather someone else do it for him so he can turn tail and run. Artagan's lying and manipulation get him into some sticky situations too, it's like he never learns the lesson from his mistakes. He's a product of boredom at times, doing reckless things on a whim simply because he can or because it might be funny. He has no respect for authority and can't help meddling when the opportunity arises.
Artagan is fond of luxury and especially enjoys drinking Mai Tai's and relaxing. He very much does as he pleases regardless of the situation he's in. Spreading mischief and pulling pranks truly make him happy, if he can spread a little chaos in the world then he's pleased! He also has a talent for sketching and used to keep a book to doodle in, something that rubbed off on Jester after meeting him as a young child. You could say Artagan is vain and has to look his best, he's especially fond of his wild unruly orange mane of hair! However, there are a few things he doesn't care much for, such as the theater or his home plane the Feywilds. Stuffy serious people tend to rub him the wrong way too, as do actual Gods. And if there's one thing he can't stand, it's being a Cult leader, even though he posed to people as a God and gave them gifts for following him, he quickly lost interest in leading and tried to plot a plan to get rid of about 97% of his followers!
Due to the fact that Artagan can shapeshift and most of the time prefers to be in some other form than his own when interacting with others, it's hard to say what most people think about him when they first meet him. The main common denominator is that whatever he looks like, he's either causing a little trouble or guiding someone. Later in cannon when he exposes who he really is to the group, he drops the act of being some all-powerful God and confesses to them; "I have no fucking idea what I'm doing!" Further proving the point that he's a creature of chaos and impulse. He likes to think that he's this wonderful persona he presents to people, and likes to keep a little mystery when letting people get close. Overall he's fickle and selective, driven by impulse and interest, and shouldn't really be trusted.
Suitability:
First of all, Artagan is not going to like being stuck in one place without being able to teleport out. This could be fun to play, as he's going to have to face the people he might have annoyed or those who may come to adore him, something he's never had to do before. The setting is going to be challenging for him and I think it could be a wonderful chance for character growth or destruction depending on how he interacts with those around him.
Artagan definitely belongs in a place like Noctium simply for the fact it will be a wonderful punishment for him, something he avoided several times in his own plane of existence. To have to manifest mana in order to keep the powers of a God stable will annoy the hell out of him and I am here for that! I can see him rebelling from time to time and then pouting and complaining when the outcome doesn't go his way.
He'll enjoy the new powers his Gembond will grant him! He can currently create new plant life but he'd never been able to control the wind so that will be exciting for him! I can't promise that he won't fall back into his old ways and pretend to be some kind of God in order to trick the natives and outworlders alike, but I can promise you that there will be pranks galore regardless!
Artagan will be coming in with a small number of canon mates already in-game, this will might either be a help or hindrance to him when it comes to making connections and synchronizing with others. His canon mates have a varied view of him, ranging from "He's cool!" to "I don't like this guy." So it will be interesting to see how they react to him and the antics he gets up to!
Overall, I think Artagan is going to find this place to be a whirlwind of a ride! He's an agent of chaos, an abundance of mischief and joy! Some aspects he'll love and others he'll try and avoid like the plague! He deserves to be here as penance for his previous behaviors and to make him accountable for once. You can bet he'll try and turn it around and try to get anything and everything he can out of this world, he wants to be lavished on and free to do as he pleases when he pleases... Bring on the consequences I say.
Condition upon arrival:
Artagan will be arriving healthy and happy if not a little confused. He will have no injuries physically or mentally that need healing.
Abilities:
Artagan's abilities are listed as such:
1. A type of charm spell (most likely Charm Person) that notifies the victim upon ending.
2. A type of invisibility spell or ability that lasts for at least 6 hours and requires concentration.
3. He is able to tell directions without the use of a map (Can tell which way is Duskward in the Feywild).
4. He can create portals to different places. NOTE: this will obviously be nerfed so he can only move in small, reasonable distances.
5. He is able to manipulate plant life.
6. Polymorph and Shapeshifting.
Artagan also has the same abilities that he granted to Jester Lavorre, however, he rarely uses them for himself. These abilities are; he is able to make himself stealthy, create a duplicate of himself that he can talk through, cast poison onto a weapon to make it more dangerous, dispel magic and modify memory.
Inventory:
All Artagan is arriving with is;
1. A small carved dick statue that Jester made for him.
2. One Mai tai drink in a coconut with a straw and paper umbrella.
3. The clothes he's wearing (some fancy leggings, a tunic top, and a few light fabric sashes with a long green cloak worn over the top)
4. One of the 'religious symbols' that Jester likely made for him of the arched doorway and winding road.
Gembond: Amethyst
Gem Location: Under the arch of his left foot. About the size of a penny.
